'Groove Thing' Sets Kickstarter Funding Record for Insertable Pleasure Product

SAN FRANCISCO — Groove Thing, an insertable pleasure product that plays audio, has set a funding record on Kickstarter.

The toy raised $100,000 in the first 12 hours of the campaign and $260,000 to date, making it the most funded insertable pleasure product in Kickstarter's history.

Invented by former NASA Mars mission software engineer Michael Weiss-Malik, Groove Thing transforms audio into high-fidelity physical sensations that mirror the tone and texture of the music, allowing users to feel as well as hear the sounds.

"Music should be felt, not just heard," said Weiss-Malik. "We're redefining how people connect with their favorite songs, opening new creative possibilities for musicians, and helping break down shame around bodily pleasure. This isn't just a new product. It's a new medium."

Co-founded by movie producer Elizabeth Dell and sex educator Caitlin V Neal, Groove Thing was developed in partnership with Design 1st, the firm that also designed We-Vibe.

"I've been a sex and relationship coach for over a decade, and I've long suspected that music and sensation could be combined to bring people to new heights of connection and pleasure," said Neal. "Groove Thing isn't just another toy. It's the first of its kind. It's sensual, embodied, transformative, and deeply pleasurable."
